Earlier this week, we asked Chelsea supporters whose first goal for the Blues was the best. The results are in!
The poll was inspired by Jamie Gittens’ wonder strike at Wolves last month, which was quite some way for the winger to open his Blues account.
Over 25,000 of you watched the shortlist of ten goals and selected your favourite.
It was a well-contested vote but one goal ranked clear of the rest: Moises Caicedo’s stunning effort from the halfway line against Bournemouth on the final day of the 2023/24 season.
Caicedo picked up 33 per cent of the vote, meaning one in three of you opted for the Ecuadorian’s first Chelsea goal as the best.
Gittens finished up as runner-up, with 17 per cent of the vote, and he was followed by Gianfranco Zola (12 per cent) in third place. Fourth was tied between Mario Stanic and Joao Pedro (both nine per cent), for their spectacular strikes against West Ham and Fluminense respectively 25 years apart.
We have said it a lot already this year, and now we are saying it again – congratulations, Moises!
