Man United's willingness to throw themselves in the line of fire as well as the influence of two of our central midfielders are among the noteworthy statistics to come out of last night's loss...

We had 17 shots last night of which one, a late Cesar Azpilicueta effort, was on target. The disallowed goals do not contribute towards our shot count.

Manchester United blocked 10 of our 17 efforts; we blocked two of their nine.

Azpilicueta was one of four players who had three attempts on goal, Mason Mount and Pedro being the other Chelsea ones.

Both teams hit the woodwork once, from direct set-pieces.

We had a 61 per cent share of possession. Our two midfielders who completed the 90 minutes, Jorginho (8.4 per cent) and Mateo Kovacic (7.9 per cent), spent the most time on the ball.

Kovacic had the most touches (101) followed by Jorginho and Reece James (98).

Our pass completion rate was 87 per cent. Of those players who started, Jorginho and Michy Batshuayi (both 94 per cent) were the most accurate.

Jorginho completed the most passes (81), followed by Kovacic (69) and James (61).

When it came to key passes, Pedro and Bruno Fernandes recorded three apiece.

Kovacic’s four successful dribbles was a game-high figure.

Of the 30 aeriel duels contested, both teams won 15. Eric Bailly won the most (five) followed by Kurt Zouma’s four, the Frenchman having come on at half-time.

He replaced Andreas Christensen, who was the game’s top tackler with four despite his early withdrawal. Willian and Jorginho won three each.

Zouma was among a pack of players on two interceptions, with Harry Maguire leading the way with four.

Chelsea have lost all five of our home league games when conceding the first goal this season; only Norwich and West Ham have failed to recover a single point at home when conceding first in the Premier League this season.
