Known for being a strong presence on the pitch and animated on the sidelines, Tosin Adarabioyo embodies being a leader for the Blues. And it’s a role he thrives on.

Affectionately known as ‘Uncle Tosin’ by the squad, the 28-year-old helps glue the Blues together, whether in Enzo Maresca’s starting XI or providing support from the dugout.

Imparting knowledge, expertise and quality, the defender spreads the head coach’s message and supports his team-mates, with this particularly on show during our victory over Nottingham Forest, as he helped guide the Blues to three points, coming on as a substitute during the latter stages at the City Ground.

Speaking before matchday three of our Champions League contest against Ajax, Tosin enjoys that side of the game, helping provide the squad with a platform to succeed.

‘Even when I'm on the side of the pitch, I'm always trying to help,’ Tosin explained. ‘The most important thing is getting the three points, so any details I can give to the boys off the pitch to help them perform is very important, and that's what I was doing on Saturday [against Forest].

‘It is something that's in me. It's part of my leadership role within the team. I’m just as animated when I'm on the pitch, and I'll continue to do the same off it as well.’

The central defender knows it will be just as important to get a positive result when we welcome our Dutch opponents to the Bridge later this evening. Reflecting on our Champions League campaign so far, Tosin knows it’s about building momentum following a mixed start.

He continued: ‘Obviously, the Bayern game didn't go our way. We put in a good performance, but at that level, you can't afford to give away goals the way we did. Then we came back to Stamford Bridge and got a great result against Benfica.’

Tosin deservedly made the Conference League Team of the Season during our triumphant run to the European title last term, and he’s hoping you can be just a crucial to the Blues during our current campaign.

He added: ‘The aim is to perform at the highest of levels, to win this competition and also get those same accolades.’
