Tosin Adarabioyo says the Blues are one step closer to achieving our ambition of claiming silverware this season after defeating Port Vale 7-0 to claim a place in the FA Cup semi-finals.
With the international break concluded, the Blues produced the perfect performance to restart our campaign, and Tosin was among seven different players on the scoresheet during a commanding win over the League One side at Stamford Bridge.
The 28-year-old, who headed home our fourth goal of the afternoon, was delighted with the manner of our victory and believes reaching the FA Cup semi-finals can prove a catalyst in getting our season back on track after a challenging run of results.
‘After the two-week break, we wanted to come back home and put on a good performance,' explained the Blues centre-back. 'And that’s what we did.
‘It felt good to be out on the pitch. It was great to play some nice football, get a big win and keep a clean sheet back at Stamford Bridge. It’s always good to get on the scoresheet, and that’s what I can do in the opposing box – score goals.’
Tosin highlighted that the Blues were aware of the potential threat Port Vale could pose, as the Valiants knocked out Championship club Bristol City and Premier League side Sunderland in the previous rounds of the competition.
‘We know it’s the FA Cup, it’s difficult, and anything can happen,’ he continued.
‘We watched them beat a Premier League team in the last round and they put in a shift, so we knew it would be a difficult game if we didn’t show our best, but that’s what we managed to do.’
Tosin then delivered a final message to the Chelsea supporters after we had sealed yet another return to Wembley later this month.
'Our aim is to get to the final, and then the aim is to end the season with a trophy,' he said.
