Tosin is currently on tour with Chelsea, following up matches in Australia and Hong Kong with a busy weekend ahead: back-to-back games against AC Milan in Indonesia and Johor Darul Ta’zim in Malaysia.

Some of Chelsea’s new summer recruits have also begun to join Tosin and the rest of the squad on tour, including experienced striker Welbeck.

Our defender knows his new team-mate well from their time on opposite sides of the Manchester City-Manchester United divide earlier in their careers, although joked that he is mainly just relieved not to be the oldest member of the Blues’ squad now.

‘I know, thank God we've got Welbs now,’ he responded with a laugh when asked about the striker. ‘I've known Welbs for a minute now, known him for a long time, just growing up in Manchester, so it's nice to have him with us.

‘I think we've all seen that he scores goals. He's a good striker at the end of the day and he's here to help, and the way for him to help is by scoring goals. I'm sure he'll do that.’

Chelsea have also secured the signing of another highly experienced England international in Henderson, who will join the squad on our return to the UK after his involvement in this summer’s FIFA World Cup.

In addition to ensuring Tosin will no longer be the only ‘uncle’ in the squad, the 28-year-old believes Henderson and Welbeck can help the team a lot with the lessons they have learned during their careers.

‘They bring pure experience,’ Tosin continued. ‘At the same time, they're winners, so they're bringing that winning mentality to the club and hopefully we'll continue that winning.

‘It's obviously nice, no longer being the oldest. We've obviously got some more older players and experienced players in the squad. They’re still uncs as well. They're still young in life, so it's fine.’

Another player who has joined up with the Chelsea squad midway through the tour is Mudryk, after his ban was lifted allowing him to return to action immediately.

After a long absence, Tosin says his team-mates are all behind him and helping him to get back to match sharpness, although he insists the Ukrainian’s dedication and hard work mean he is closer to full fitness than many would expect, as seen when he made his return off the bench against Juventus on Wednesday.

‘Misha's my guy,’ added Tosin. ‘I've kept in contact with him throughout, so it's really nice to have him back. I'm really happy for him, and you can see that he's just happy to be around and he's happy to be back in the environment. It's obviously going to take him some time, but we're all here to support him.

‘His work rate is unbelievable, so no doubt he's been working throughout this whole time. I know he's been doing some sessions away, I know the guys he's been working with, so it's good. His work rate is phenomenal, so I'm not surprised at all.’

Tosin, Mudryk and Welbeck will all hope to be involved when Chelsea are in action this weekend against AC Milan and Johor Darul Ta'zim, with both games being shown live on the Chelsea Official App and website for CFC+ subscribers. .
