The final session ahead of that game at the Hill Dickinson Stadium took place first in the gym and then in cold but sunny conditions outside, with Xabi Alonso putting the final touches on our preparations for our maiden outing away from the capital this season.

There was no Reece James involved in the session after the news our captain has undergone successful minor knee surgery, but the likes of Cole Palmer, Moises Caicedo and Joao Pedro were all out on the grass at Cobham as we look to build on Saturday’s excellent win over Bournemouth.

The Blues were adorned in items from our third kit training collection, ahead of us debuting our new third shirt - which has a lovely retro feel to it - on Merseyside.
