After starting our season with three consecutive victories – two in the Premier League, one in the Carabao Cup – the next test for Alonso and his players comes in the form of the Gunners.

An interesting subplot to the contest is the longstanding friendship between Alonso and Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta, who grew up together in the Basque city of San Sebastian and played for the grassroots side Antiguoko Kirol Elkartea.

That friendship will be paused on Sunday as the Blues go in search of three points at the Emirates Stadium, and Alonso worked his players hard out on the grass at our Surrey training base today.
