Trevoh Chalobah was left feeling overwhelmingly proud of the group after the Blues earned a late point against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium.

It was an incredible finale in Manchester after a valiant and battling display from the Blues, which saw Enzo Fernandez bundle home a last-gasp equaliser to earn a well-deserved point on our travels.

And it was the second-half performance that the centre-half was particularly proud of, with Trev pointing to the value of the spirit and togetherness within the squad.

‘I’m really proud of the boys,’ Trev began, speaking after the match. ‘We spoke about our spirit, and we knew that’s what was needed today.

‘You can talk about tactics, but it’s the spirit, the mentality and the togetherness that really showed today. When we were 1-0 down in the first half, we supported each other and kept each other up.

‘To come here and get a point against a very good side that’s in form at the moment is unbelievable for us, and I’m really happy for the team.’

Trev produced an imperious performance from centre-half, making seven clearances, two blocks and three recoveries – to name just a few – and he felt the rest of the team rose to the challenge presented by City after the break.

‘In the second half, we showed even more energy,’ Chalobah continued. ‘That’s what we have needed to work on this season. It’s football – sometimes you go 1-0 down. We had another 45 minutes to make things right, and we came out with our heads up, wanting to get the result.

‘In these moments, it’s when you need players like Reece and me, and the senior lads, to lift the spirits, keep the guys going, and in this moment now we need to be together more than ever. We’re going to need everyone.’

Trev is also well aware of the importance this point might hold come the end of the season, and in the short term, the defender is hopeful of building momentum with eight games left to play in January.

‘For us, this is a big point going into a busy month,’ Trev added. ‘We have a lot of games this month, and it’s a good way to start the new year. For us, it’s just onto the next game. The more games we play, the more consistency we get.’
