Trevoh Chalobah feels the squad should be accountable for a disappointing performance against Brighton, after the Blues fell to a 3-0 defeat at the Amex Stadium.
It was a frustrating evening on the south coast, and Trev was left crestfallen after the Seagulls overtook Chelsea in the Premier League standings with three points on a night to forget.
Chalobah acknowledged the performance and felt it was important for the players to ‘take responsibility’ for Tuesday evening’s defeat.
Speaking after the game, Trev said: ‘We’re in a difficult moment, but we can’t use that as an excuse. We all play for one of the biggest clubs in the world, so we have to look at ourselves. You can say tactics, you can say this [or that], but we just have to take responsibility.
‘As players, we have to be accountable for our performance. We know how much the fans have been behind us, and we know they are disappointed at the moment with the results.’
With a hugely important match to come this weekend, where the Blues take on Leeds United in our FA Cup semi-final clash at Wembley, Trev believes it’s vital that we pull together and regroup in these next few days.
He said: ‘We have to stick together. You can't dwell on the past; it’s not going to change anything. You have to stay positive. You have to pick yourself up with another semi-final to come - it’s a massive game at Wembley.
‘We have to use that as a positive, and we have to approach the game with a strong mentality and try to pick ourselves up from this defeat.’
