Chelsea are delighted to welcome three new additions to our women’s team coaching staff ahead of the 2024/25 season.

Seb Brown, Dan Smith and Jack Stephens will join new head coach Sonia Bompastor’s backroom team in the positions of goalkeeping coach, assistant goalkeeping coach and opposition analyst respectively.

Although new to the role, Brown is not new to the club having previously worked with our women’s academy. As goalkeeping lead with our youth teams, he also supported former coach Stuart Searle with first team duties.

Brown, a former professional player with Brentford and AFC Wimbledon, started his coaching journey with Hampton & Richmond Borough FC and has also worked with the men’s first team and academy at Sutton United.

Smith joins the team as assistant goalkeeping coach, having last worked as the women’s team goalkeeper coach for Saudi Arabian club Al-Ittihad.

He was previously head of goalkeeping at Bristol City Women - after being head of women’s academy goalkeeping at West Ham United – while, Smith has also held roles with the FA and FA Wales.

Our new opposition analyst joins from the Ireland FA, having held the position of performance analyst for the women’s national team during the recent European Championship qualifying campaign.

Stephens started his career in football with Shrewsbury U18s while studying at university, before going on to work with Leicester City’s men’s first team and then wit FIFA.

Welcome to Chelsea!
