Tyrique George discusses his breakthrough season and his journey through the Chelsea Academy from the age of eight in an exclusive interview with the matchday programme for tonight’s Conference League semi-final second leg against Djurgarden.

The Cobham youth graduate has had a campaign to remember, in which he has moved into the first-team dressing room along with boyhood friend Josh Acheampong and scored his first senior goal, and his first Premier League goal, the latter a crucial one in our comeback at Fulham.

'That was good, wasn’t it?' he says, reliving that memorable moment. 'To be fair, it felt like slow motion – it was weird. I hit it and I just saw it go in the corner, but when Pedro picked up the ball, I was like, ‘Oh my God, we actually still need to win the game,’ so I just turned around and ran back.'

His part in that turn around ended with him being serenaded by the Blues fans in the away end at full time.

'The chant!” he says, smiling at the memory. 'To be fair, I heard it when I was walking across the pitch at the start of the game. I was just really happy, and obviously to hear it when we won the game was just mad. Everyone was shouting and all the players pushed me to the front, it was a nice feeling. I was just happy; that was a good day. Yeah. I was just trying to keep a little composure – it was good.'

Elsewhere in the programme, we mark the visit of a club from Stockholm by taking a look back at the Cup Winners’ Cup final in the Swedish capital in 1998, in the words of the players who were on the pitch that day.

We also take a look back at the CFC Awards night on Sunday, plus all the info you need on our opponents, Djurgarden, a word with Swedish Blues member, Harri Hemmi, and the latest columns from Enzo Maresca, Reece James, Sonia Bompastor and our Academy coaches.
