Five Chelsea Women youngsters featured as England drew 1-1 with Serbia in their second match of the U19 European Championships.

The 1-1 draw leaves England on four points from two games, meaning a draw in their final match against France on Saturday afternoon would be enough to secure a top-two finish in the group and a place in the semi-final.

In the Young Lionesses' second group stage match, Chelsea youngsters Katie Cox, Brooke Aspin, and Lexi Potter kept their place in the starting XI from the opening win over Lithuania, while Ashanti Akpan also started having been an unused substitute in the first game.

Cerys Brown was named on the bench against Serbia, and entered the fray after 30 minutes following an injury to Evie Rabjohn.

It proved to be a more tightly contested encounter than the opening match when England beat the tournament hosts 10-0, with this game being goalless at half-time.

There had been chances for both sides, including two curling strikes from Blues midfielder Potter - one of which was teed up by Akpan, while Aspin had the best opportunity, but she saw her header cleared off the line.

At the other end, Chelsea goalkeeper Cox made a fine stop to deny an effort inside the box, before Aspin made a vital interception in the box to thwart an opportunity in the dying stages of the first half.

After the interval, Cox made another save to push Nina Matejic's shot wide of the post just before the hour mark in what was the best opportunity of the second half for either side thus far.

But it was 1-0 to Serbia in the 67th minute after some neat footwork helped Matejic - the Serbian captain - work her way in the box, before hitting a low strike into the bottom corner beyond Cox.

The Young Lionesses were awarded a penalty in the 89th minute following a handball, which was converted by Mia Enderby, securing a vital point for their hopes of reaching the knock-out stages.
