Katie Cox, Brooke Aspin, Cerys Brown, Lexi Potter and Ashanti Akpan all started for England Under-19s as the Young Lionesses defeated France 1-0 to book their place in the semi-finals of the European Championships.
Brown started having come off the bench early in the 1-1 draw with Serbia on Wednesday, with the other quartet all retaining their place in John Griffiths' XI.
Potter started the move from which England threatened early in the first half, sending a fine pass down the right that ended with Michelle Agyemang heading wide.
Cox and Brown collided shortly before half-time but after treatment they were both okay to continue. Potter was soon back in the thick of things and had a chance to put England ahead, skewing wide from just outside the box.
The Young Lionesses remained the better team in the second half and after Akpan had a shot deflected wide, sub Poppy Pritchard deservedly put England ahead with 20 minutes remaining.
Aspin was withdrawn late on and it then needed a superb block from Potter to preserve England’s advantage, which secured them top spot in the group. They will find out their semi-final opponents tomorrow (Sunday), with the semi scheduled for Wednesday.
