For the second weekend in succession, Chelsea Under-18s face off against Tottenham Hotspur Under-18s. And the Saturday morning clash at Cobham will be shown live – and for free – exclusively on the Official Chelsea App.
Last time out, Chelsea came from behind to record a thrilling 4-3 victory over Spurs in the Premier League Cup. It is our young Blues league campaign that takes centre stage this time around.
Hassan Sulaiman's men kick-off against Spurs at 11am tomorrow (Saturday) knowing a victory will take them top of the Under-18 Premier League South table.
And after last week's pulsating comeback in north London, there is optimism among the Chelsea players about what can be achieved this season.
'I think we are really progressing well as a team and we are so focused on each game that it is impressive to see,' explains striker Donnell McNeilly.
'Last season, there was so much developing from myself and the rest of the team. It has set us up this year to not only develop but potentially win things for the club and ourselves.'
McNeilly has been one of the main sources of goals for the Under-18s this term and has also been successful when selected for the Under-21s.
'I do not think about it too much,' he says, 'even though I am scoring goals and helping the team, I want to see what that gets me and the team by the end of the season. That is my main focus.'
He continues: 'Hassan always reminds us that it is all about the team and that the way for us to be successful is for us to contribute positively to the team spirit and culture. So, the goals I score are just a contribution to the greater team effort.'
McNeilly has been working hard this season to make an impact in the final third, but he highlighted there are things he wants to still improve on.
'I think as a player, you can never ever feel comfortable, you have to always want to improve and strive to be the best. I personally think that is the best mindset to have to support the team.
'I look at other players in the squad in my position and try to see what I can learn and add to my game. As an example, I think Ronnie Stutter is able to press for sustained periods and that is a part of my game that I can definitely improve on with more work.'
In preparation for facing Tottenham once again, McNeilly has his sights set on influencing the game and helping Chelsea move into top spot.
'Every game is another opportunity to get to the top and then stay there. I believe that we are in good shape, we are confident and we showed what we can do already against a very good team in Spurs,' says.
'It is important that we continue to apply the instructions that Hass and the coaching team tell us to do and we will be fine.'
Tomorrow's match will be available to watch live, exclusively, and for free on the Official Chelsea App, complete with enhanced stats and event tracking from MVX, built by Infinite Athlete.
