Chelsea Under-18s head coach Hassan Sulaiman is eager to put the disappointment of a rare league defeat behind us by sealing the southern title at Southampton on Tuesday, in a match which will be shown live on the Official Chelsea App.

Despite suffering our first loss in the Under-18 Premier League since October on Saturday, the Blues remain five points clear at the top of the southern table with two matches remaining, the first of which comes away at Southampton on Tuesday, with kick-off at 11am UK time.

With a superior goal difference to second-placed West Ham United in addition to our points advantage, the destination of the trophy remains very much within our control. Two points from our last two games would be enough to seal it whatever happens elsewhere, but even one would require a huge turnaround in goal difference on the last day for the Hammers to have a chance of catching us.

However, head coach Hassan Sulaiman insists Chelsea are targeting all three points at Southampton, regardless of the mathematics involved.

'It’s still in our hands,' said Sulaiman. 'If you look at the league table, we are still five points clear, so it’s not all doom and gloom after one defeat.

'The team that’s second still needs to win their two games, if they drop points then all of a sudden it’s over, so we’re in a strong position. The disappointment for us on Saturday was just from a performance point of view.

'But of course we still have two more games, we still need effectively a point to probably do it, but we know that we want to try and win as many games as possible.'

With victory at Southampton the goal, Sulaiman is hoping his players can quickly get over their disappointment from the weekend to produce an improved performance in midweek and wrap things up with a game to spare, despite the quick turnaround between matches.

'The boys were disappointed on Saturday so I think having a day off to reflect was good and then we began again in training on Monday. Hopefully we’ll be all right and back in full swing on Tuesday.

'They’re definitely disappointed with themselves. I know the boys that I work with and they’re disappointed they didn’t perform. But they know what they need to go on to do, so undoubtedly I’m sure that we’ll have a positive performance against Southampton.

'We just need to make sure we take our chance on Tuesday. It’s another opportunity, so we need to make sure we take our chance and then make sure we finish strong on Saturday against Arsenal.'
