Our Under-19s return to action for matchday two of the UEFA Youth League as we welcome last year’s finalists RB Salzburg to Cobham in a match that will be shown live on BT Sport….
Ed Brand’s young Blues will be looking to bounce back from last week’s disappointing 4-2 defeat away to Dinamo Zagreb.
Despite the loss, there were positives that could be drawn from that defeat as a number of chances were squandered while the hosts were clinical with the chances they fashioned.

Captain of this year’s UYL squad, Bashir Humphreys has provided an insight into how the squad are hoping to tackle the challenge of the upcoming opponent to ensure a positive result.
‘We understand that it has not been a perfect start to the competition at all but it is important that we learn from our mistakes in the last match and press forward to achieving the result that we know we can get in this game,' he said.
‘We have to quickly show our strength and our character to make sure we bounce back and not get left behind in this group.'
The Under-19s squad is being managed this season by Brand and Humphreys believes that the feeling around the group has been good.
‘The mood heading into the next game is great,' he added. 'Of course we are all still in collective mourning over the sad passing of Queen Elizabeth II and while we continue to reflect on her wonderful life, we are fully focused ahead of the tough challenge.’
The opposition
RB Salzburg will be a tough outfit for our young Blues as they come into this year’s competition as last year’s finalists.
They began their campaign with a 1-1 draw against AC Milan, with a late goal needed to salvage a point.
The game is scheduled to kick-off at 1pm (UK time) and can be watched live on BT Sport.
