Chelsea Women will be looking to secure our qualification for the knockout stages of the UEFA Women’s Champions League when they travel to face Albanian champions Vllaznia on matchday five this Friday evening.

The Blues have navigated a tough group phase to good effect thus far, maintaining an unbeaten record with three victories and one draw from our previous four matches. We have scored 12 goals and conceded just one on route to our penultimate group game against Vllaznia this week.

We sit top of Group A with 10 points from 12 available, creating a three-point lead over second-placed Paris Saint-Germain, who we face on the sixth and final matchday of the group stages at Stamford Bridge on Thursday 22 December.

Tickets for this match are available to purchase, beginning at £9 for adults and £1 for concessions

In our most recent European outing, we travelled to Real Madrid last week and returned home with a valuable point after being held to a 1-1 draw in the Spanish capital. Guro Reiten’s second-half penalty, which went down as a goalkeeper own goal, cancelled out Caroline Weir’s first-half opener.

Having edged past Reading in our final league encounter of the year on Sunday, sole focus can be placed on our Champions League exploits for the remainder of December. A favourable result in Albania would see us over the line and into the pots for the knockout stage draw in the New Year.

When and where?

We face Vllaznia at the Loro Borici Stadium in the UEFA Women’s Champions League this Friday 16 December, with kick-off scheduled for 5.45pm (UK time)

The form

We have maintained a proud unbeaten record in Group A, registering an impressive victory away at PSG on matchday one. We followed this up with back-to-back home wins over Vllaznia and Real Madrid, before drawing the reverse fixture with the Spaniards at the Estadio Alfredo di Stefano.

We occupy first place in Group A with 10 points, three ahead of PSG who sit in second place. We have scored 12 goals, eight of which came against Vllaznia at Kingsmeadow on matchday two, conceding just once in that time leaving us with a goal difference of +11.

As for Vllaznia, they sit bottom of the group and have not registered a point from their opening four matches. They are searching for their first goal of the group phase and have conceded 19 leaving them with a goal difference of -19.

In their most recent European outing, they hosted PSG on matchday four and were beaten 4-0 by the French outfit, who netted two goals in each half to continue their pursuit of a place in the knockout stages.

Vllaznia Women vs Chelsea Women recent head-to-head record

Matchday two saw the Blues welcome Vllaznia to Kingsmeadow for the first ever meeting between the two teams back in October.

We recorded an emphatic 8-0 victory in front of our supporters to stamp some authority on proceedings in Group A.

Sam Kerr netted four goals on the night, while Pernille Harder grabbed a hat-trick as the pair showed devastating prowess in front of goal.

It was a memorable night for midfielder Katerina Svitkova, who came off the bench to score her first goal for the club, with Alsu Abdullina providing the assist.

Next up for the Blues

Chelsea welcome PSG to Stamford Bridge for their final group match of this season’s Champions League on Thursday 22 December, and their last game before the Christmas break.

We return to Stamford Bridge one month after hosting Tottenham in the Women’s Super League, where we ran out 3-0 winners to move top of the WSL table.

It promises to be a fantastic spectacle, an opportunity for families to begin the festivities by watching the Blues in European action under the lights at the Bridge. This fixture is a must-have addition to your Christmas calendar, with tickets to the game the perfect gift for a fellow Blue
