Alyssa Thompson vs Manchester City

The American winger gave Chelsea supporters something to cheer about on a tough day in Manchester when she drilled a shot from the edge of the box into the bottom left corner and beyond goalkeeper Ayaka Yamashita. It was a mere consolation strike on the day, but one that showcased the 21-year-old's obvious talent.

Keira Walsh vs Tottenham

Tottenham had made things difficult for the Blues in the opening stages of this Women's Super League match, but it was Chelsea who took the lead just before the half-time interval. Walsh – who fired in the only goal of the game in our previous league meeting with Spurs at Kingsmeadow – found herself unmarked inside the box and delivered a powerful strike through a crowd of players and into the back of the net.

Alyssa Thompson vs Tottenham

Thompson's second goal of the month was a result of some excellent teamwork from the Blues. Erin Cuthbert floated an inch-perfect ball from the right-hand touchline into the path of the onrushing Sjoeke Nusken. Her shot was parried by Lize Kop, but the rebound fell neatly for Thompson, who had time to steady herself and hit a half-volley high into the opposition goal.

Lauren James vs Liverpool

When Veerle Buurman pulled the ball back to the edge of the penalty area, there was only one thing on James' mind: to score. She did exactly that, dribbling the ball until she found a gap to shoot and then leaned her momentum to fire an unstoppable shot beyond goalkeeper Jennifer Falk.

Sjoeke Nusken vs Liverpool

After her shot was saved against Spurs, Nusken managed to score the next weekend when we faced Liverpool. James had turned her marker inside out on the left wing, before delivering a dangerous cross into the box that needed only the slightest of touches from the German to send the ball over the line.

Sam Kerr vs Manchester United

A closely-matched FA Cup fifth round contest was opened up by second-half substitute Kerr, when Ellie Carpenter played a ball into the box, and Buurman headed back across goal to the Australian striker. Kerr then swung her shot towards the far post, and her effort bounced back off it and out of the reach of an outstretched Phallon Tullis-Joyce.

Naomi Girma vs Manchester United

After the contest against Man United had gone into extra time, it was defender Girma who struck to send Chelsea into the quarter-final of the competition. Buurman was involved once again when she forced an excellent stop from Tullis-Joyce with a header from a corner, but her defensive counterpart was on hand to drive home the rebound from close range.
