April began with a bittersweet victory over Arsenal at Stamford Bridge as we overcame the Gunners with a 1-0 win, yet we were unable to overturn the 3-1 deficit from the first leg of the Women's Champions League quarter-final.

We then secured a Women's FA Cup semi-final berth thanks to a 2-1 win over Tottenham Hotspur, before heading to Goodison Park to record a 4-1 victory over Everton.

We have nominated four players who impressed during April in our Player of the Month shortlist, but the final choice between Veerle Buurman, Ellie Carpenter, Lauren James and Sam Kerr is down to you, the Chelsea supporters.

Buurman came on as a second-half substitute during the Women's FA Cup quarter-final and struck a stunning 86th-minute left-footed winner, as well as weighing in with more assured performances in the backline.

Wing-back Ellie Carpenter started all three matches in April as she brought the energy with her lung-busting runs down the right flank, as well as popping up with a goal from an Alyssa Thompson cross during our big win on Merseyside.

While Lauren James did not get on the scoresheet last month, our number ten continued her fine form and played in a slightly deeper position against the Toffees. Her unselfish play saw her attempt more crosses (eight) than any other player on the day, completed the joint-most passes in the final third (21), and created the joint-most chances (five).

It's also been a big month for striker Sam Kerr as she netted our opener in the FA Cup against Spurs before dominating in the match against Everton. A brace at Goodison Park saw the Australian draw level with Fran Kirby as our joint-highest goalscorer in the Women's Super League, a record she has subsequently broken in May.
