Gianfranco Zola v Sunderland - 1999/00
Let's begin with one of the best magicians to have played for the Blues, Gianfranco Zola. To complete a memorable 4-0 win to open the season, the Italian graciously controlled the ball on the edge of the box before proceeding to loft his pass into the air in the direction of Gus Poyet, who blasted it past the Sunderland goalkeeper. A truly incredible assist from the magic boots of Zola.
Frank Lampard v Man City - 2007/08
Our next nomination is an incredible entry from Super Frank. Coming against Manchester City during our 6-0 demolition of the Citizens, Frank Lampard had the ball on the halfway line, and with the outside of his right foot, he curled a beautiful pass around the City defence before Didier Drogba fired his effort past the onrushing goalkeeper.
Samuel Eto’o v Newcastle - 2013/14
This next nomination was a perfectly crafted move from the impressive duo of Samuel Eto’o and Eden Hazard. As the brilliant Belgian edged closer to the area, he played a sharp one-two with the Cameroonian - Eto’o deftly back-heeling the ball into Hazard’s stride - before the winger calmly slotted it into the net.
Cesc Fabregas v Burnley - 2014/15
Our penultimate nomination comes from Cesc Fabregas - a midfielder who’s no stranger to an assist, having registered the third-most in Premier League history. Receiving the ball from Branislav Ivanovic, Cesc played a mesmeric first-time pass to Andre Schurrle, who tapped home from close range to level the match against Burnley.
Jorginho v Watford - 2019/20
The final assist on this quality-packed list comes from Jorginho during our 2-1 win over Watford. The opener in the match at Vicarage Road, the Italian played an incredible first-time looped pass to Tammy Abraham, who tapped his shot over the onrushing goalkeeper.
