Chelsea against Manchester United is an historic Premier League fixture and the rivalry is rekindled when the Reds travel to Stamford Bridge this weekend. Ahead of the game, we have dipped into the archives and selected six iconic moments for you to re-live and then choose your favourite from.

Zola’s solo strike | February 1997

Gianfranco Zola was just a few months into his Chelsea career when he bamboozled the visiting defence, first cutting inside the sliding Dennis Irwin before easing past Gary Pallister and firing a left-footed finish inside Peter Schmeichel’s near post.

Treble winners Man United had not lost for 29 league games but Gianluca Vialli’s side blew them away with one of our best performances in Premier League history, kickstarted by a goal from Gus Poyet inside a minute and crowned by young Jody Morris’ low drive.

Chelsea knew victory in this one would secure a second consecutive Premier League title, and after William Gallas had nodded us in front early on, Joe Cole put the champagne on ice with an iconic solo effort after gliding through the bewildered United defence.

Samuel Eto’o became the first Chelsea player to score a Premier League hat-trick against Manchester United in January 2014, showcasing his eye for goal with a deflected left-footed strike and two close-range efforts.

N’Golo opens his account | October 2016

N’Golo Kante was beginning to find his groove in a Chelsea shirt after joining from Leicester, and so were the Blues as we thrashed Man United 4-0 with our brilliant midfielder completing the scoring with his first for the club.

Palmer’s injury-time heroics | April 2024

With 99 minutes on the clock in an April epic, Chelsea trailed 3-2. Step forward Cole Palmer. He scored his second penalty of the game in the tenth minute of stoppage time to draw us level, before firing in a deflected strike less than 60 seconds later, sparking wild scenes at Stamford Bridge.
