Charging into the box to beat two Hammers defenders in the air to reach Thiago Silva’s high pass, the defender quickly located the dropping ball and then expertly tucked it underneath the onrushing Lukasz Fabianski.

Fran Kirby vs Manchester City

A decisive goal to open the scoring in our first home Women’s Super League game of the season, Kirby kept her composure to finish smartly from close range to give us the lead against Manchester City.

The goal owed much to the build-up play down the left as Guro Reiten and Jessie Fleming combined, the latter demonstrating neat footwork to skip into the box before Reiten’s cutback was converted with a left-footed, first-time strike from Kirby.

Kai Havertz vs West Ham

Chilwell turned provider for our late winner, which promoted joyous scenes of celebration at Stamford Bridge.

Kai Havertz was the goalscorer, ghosting into space on the edge of the six-yard box before producing the perfect first-time finish to steer in a low delivery from the left.

Raheem Sterling vs RB Salzburg

The first goal of the Graham Potter era came from the right boot of his compatriot Raheem Sterling as the forward celebrated his first European strike for the club.

It arrived at the start of the second half of a game in which the Blues had looked lively, with Mason Mount the supplier from the right flank. Sterling rolled the ball under his control with his studs and then curled it brilliantly beyond the diving goalkeeper.

Lewis Hall vs RB Salzburg U19s

The game was deadlocked and goalless at Cobham between our Under-19 side and their counterparts from Austria when a moment of inspiration from Lewis Hall made all the difference.

After brushing off the challenge of two defenders, the midfielder charged towards goal down the left channel and produced an unerring low finish which beat the goalkeeper via the inside of the far post.

Omari Hutchinson vs Crystal Palace U21s

Amid a six-goal thriller in Premier League 2, Omari Hutchinson’s opener got things started and was the pick of the bunch at Selhurst Park.

The forward reacted quickest to a turnover of possession, spinning cleverly into space to evade the covering centre-back before receiving the ball from Mason Burstow and burying an unstoppable drive into the bottom corner from just inside the box.
