Wednesday night’s win over Pafos was Chelsea’s 100th match at Stamford Bridge in the Champions League proper. We are marking this significant milestone by asking you to pick your favourite from our ten-game shortlist. Trust us, decisions don’t come much harder!

Our very first group stage fixture was against AC Milan in September 1999. Since that epic goalless draw against one of the titans of European football, we have enjoyed countless more memorable Champions League nights under the lights in SW6.

Narrowing our 100 games down to just ten was no easy task, but we believe our shortlist represents a good spread of eras and iconic moments, including games that featured on our run to glory in the 2012 and 2021 editions of the prestigious tournament.

Chelsea 3-1 Barcelona 2000

The highlight of our maiden Champions League voyage, the Blues raced into a three-goal lead in eight first-half minutes courtesy of a Gianfranco Zola free-kick and a pair of typically precise Tore Andre Flo finishes. Luis Figo’s late effort for the star-studded visitors could not take the shine off one of our finest hours at the Bridge.

Chelsea 4-2 Barcelona 2005

On a night of extraordinary drama in the second leg of our Round of 16 tie, we were at one point 4-2 ahead on aggregate, but suddenly behind on away goals. However, captain fantastic John Terry popped up with the deciding goal late in the second half so Jose Mourinho’s Blues progressed.

Chelsea 4-2 Bayern Munich 2005

Our very next Champions League home game was another thriller, this time against German giants Bayern Munich. The Blues produced some scintillating football and the highlight was a stunning swivel-and-finish from Frank Lampard during an electric second half.

Chelsea 3-2 Liverpool AET 2008

This was the night we finally made it to our first Champions League final after so many heartbreaking exits in the last four. Extra-time was required to separate us and Liverpool, and during the additional 30 minutes Lampard netted an emotional penalty just a few days after the passing of his mother.

Chelsea 4-4 Liverpool 2009

This was another classic against the Reds, who by now were virtually annual Champions League adversaries. We trailed 2-0, led 3-2, were 4-3 behind and then Lampard equalised with almost the last kick to finally guarantee our progression following a barely believable 7-5 aggregate success that belied previous ties between the two sides.

Chelsea 4-1 Napoli 2012

This was the night our 2011/12 Champions League campaign kicked into gear. Trailing 3-1 from the first leg in Naples, the Blues roared back into contention in Roberto Di Matteo’s first game in charge. Goals from Didier Drogba, Terry and Lampard took the tie to extra-time, where Branislav Ivanovic slammed home the winner.

Chelsea 2-0 PSG 2014

Time was running out for Mourinho’s Blues in the second leg of this Champions League quarter-final tie. Up stepped Demba Ba to bundle home a late winner and send the Bridge wild as we progressed past the Parisians on away goals.

Chelsea 4-4 Ajax 2019

As you can tell, spectacular comebacks have been a feature of our Champions League history at Stamford Bridge - and this was no different. We trailed 4-1 with over an hour played, but three goals in 11 minutes drew us level, teenager Reece James choosing an opportune moment to net his first European strike for the Blues.

Chelsea 2-0 Real Madrid 2021

Sadly there were no supporters inside Stamford Bridge to enjoy this semi-final second leg victory against the most successful team in the competition’s history. Goals in either half from Timo Werner and Mason Mount secured us a deserved victory – and another would follow against Man City in the final a few weeks later.

Chelsea 3-0 Barcelona 2025

The Blues blew Barcelona away at the Bridge back in November, Estevao Willian’s stunning solo effort the highlight of our most convincing victory ever against the Catalan side we have faced so often over the years.
