Several memorable Chelsea strikes were scored in August, and we are asking Blues supporters to vote for their favourite in our first Goal of the Month vote of the season.
The new campaign has started well for our men's side under Xabi Alonso. Premier League victories have been recorded over Fulham and Brighton and Hove Albion, while Luton Town were defeated in the Carabao Cup second round.
Nine goals have been scored along the way – and many have been shortlisted in our August Goal of the Month vote. There is also representation from our Academy sides, with special strikes from those featuring for Cobham Next Gen and our Under-18s.
The vote is now open on the Chelsea Official App, and supporters can watch each of the nominated goals below before having their say.
Isaac McGillvary vs Birmingham City Under-18s | Under-18 Premier League
McGillvary gets a Goal of the Month nomination with his first for our Under-18s. The schoolboy gave the Blues a lead after six minutes against Birmingham, and we raced away to a 4-1 victory. What a first goal it was from McGillvary, who steadied himself and arrowed a shot into the top corner from outside the box.
Joao Pedro vs Fulham | Premier League
The Brazilian gave us the perfect start inside the first 33 seconds of our season. There was little danger when a Fulham clearance was sent into the Chelsea half, but Maxence Lacroix won his header and the ball broke to Palmer, who deftly flicked it into Joao Pedro's path. He took a touch before finishing coolly over Bernd Leno.
Morgan Rogers vs Fulham | Premier League
This was a well-worked team move which showcased the fluidity of our football under Alonso. Centre-back Lacroix was found in the Fulham penalty area by Palmer, and he tricked his way past Jorge Cuenca and crossed from the byline. Rogers arrived perfectly and swept home to net on his Chelsea debut.
Cole Palmer vs Fulham | Premier League
Our 3-2 victory at Craven Cottage was secured in the second half by Palmer. Rogers flicked a header on to Joao Pedro, who bound into the Fulham half, waited for an overlap from the England international and slipped in his fellow attacker. Cole assessed his options and opted to guide a shot between the goalkeeper's legs.
Harrison Bettoni vs Bristol Rovers | EFL Trophy
A dramatic comeback by Cobham Next Gen against senior opposition secured a 2-2 draw, and was followed by a penalty shootout victory. The Blues were kicked into life in the game by Bettoni, who provided a neat first-time finish after Sol Gordon drove to the byline and cut the ball back for his team-mate.
Andrew Pennie vs Reading Under-18s | Under-18 Premier League
This was the first of three goals Pennie scored to get his hat-trick at Cobham against the Royals. The striker showed his strength to hold a defender at arm’s length before smashing a shot into the top corner. Heze Grimwade gets plenty of credit too for threading a defence-splitting pass into Pennie's path.
Pedro Neto vs Brighton & Hove Albion | Premier League
Neto pounced to put us two goals ahead inside the first 15 minutes of our first home Premier League fixture of the season. Rogers was the creator, collecting a Joao Pedro knock-down and forcing his way past Mario Vuskovic. The England international squared the ball and Neto burst forward to finish beyond Bart Verbruggen.
Joao Pedro vs Brighton & Hove Albion | Premier League
Joao Pedro, given a less-than-friendly reception by the fans of his former club Brighton, briefly silenced the away end with a deserved goal. Jorrel Hato was instrumental, exchanging passes in our half with Rogers and surging upfield. The Dutchman eventually fed the ball to Joao Pedro and the Blues' No.9 made no mistake with his finish.
Cole Palmer vs Brighton & Hove Albion | Premier League
Our third nomination from the Brighton win and second for Cole, just like his first, was the match winner. It was also yet another example of our front three combining incisively, as Joao Pedro controlled and laid off a throw-in for Palmer to collect. The latter advanced 20 yards and then curled a shot expertly beyond Verbruggen.
Lewi Richards vs West Ham United Under-21s | Premier League 2
Richards played his part in a stunning fightback by the Blues, who came from three goals down on the brink of half-time to triumph 5-4 in a thrilling match. Richards netted our second goal as we built momentum. Reggie Watson and Bettoni had already had efforts blocked, but there was no stopping Richards' follow-up, as he smashed his shot into the back of the net.
