Jamie Gittens’ blockbuster strike against Wolves at Molineux last month was a truly special way to score his first Chelsea goal. And it got us thinking – who else has opened their Blues' account in such impressive style?

The England Under-21 international's outside-the-boot, swerving half-volley from distance kissed the post on its way in and ultimately settled a dramatic Carabao Cup tie against Wolves.

But he is far from the first Chelsea men's player to get off the mark in blue in such stunning fashion. We have gone back through our players’ first goals in the Premier League era and selected nine other spectacular efforts for you to choose from.

It was no easy task, with several unlucky to miss out, but we had to draw the line somewhere!

There is extra context on each goal further down the page - and we will reveal the winner later this week…

Gianfranco Zola vs Everton – 7 December 1996

The little Italian's first Chelsea goal was a sign of things to come. Standing over a free-kick 35 yards out, few would have given him a chance of finding the net – but few knew quite how capable Zola was from set-pieces. His strike had whip and dip, beating Everton goalkeeper Neville Southall and a hastily retreating defender.

Mikael Forssell vs Oxford United – 3 February 1999

Seizing on a short backpass, 17-year-old full debutant Forssell made light work of a tight angle by smashing the ball into the top corner in front of a delighted Matthew Harding Stand – who saw him score an even better goal in this FA Cup fourth round replay against Oxford a few minutes later.

Mario Stanic vs West Ham United – 19 August 2000

What better way to announce yourself to your new supporters than by scoring a truly spectacular goal against a London rival on the opening day of the season? Stanic did just that. The Croatian controlled a pass, juggled it with his knee and his right foot, and then smashed a 30-yard volley past West Ham’s Shaka Hislop.

Alex vs Middlesbrough – 20 October 2007

He may have been a bruising centre-back, but Alex showcased his eye for the spectacular a few months into his Chelsea career. Having measured up a free-kick from 35 yards, he blasted an unstoppable shot in the top corner at the Riverside. It was a sign of things to come from the big Brazilian!

Willian vs Norwich City – 6 October 2013

This was certainly an impressive way for the Brazilian to mark his league debut for the Blues. When a loose ball fell into Willian's path on the edge of the box at Carrow Road against Norwich City, he only had one thing on his mind and curled a sumptuous left-footed effort into the far corner to seal a 3-1 win.

N’Golo Kante vs Manchester United – 23 October 2016

The French midfielder didn’t often find the net in blue, but when he did, it was usually a cracker. His first goal began that trend, as he weaved his way through the Manchester United defence after getting on the end of a Pedro flick and calmly placed the ball past David De Gea during a big home win in 2016.

Fikayo Tomori vs Wolves – 14 September 2019

The first of two goals on this shortlist that were scored at Wolves, Tomori still had plenty to do when the ball rolled his way 30 yards from goal in this Premier League clash. But the Academy graduate whipped an outlandish first-time effort into the top corner to leave Molineux – and some of his team-mates – speechless.

Moises Caicedo vs Bournemouth – 19 May 2024

The Ecuadorian got better and better as his first season at Stamford Bridge progressed, and the midfielder crowned his debut campaign in style. With the Bournemouth keeper out of his goal, Caicedo picked up the pieces inside the centre circle and perfectly lobbed the ball into the unguarded net. Wow!

Joao Pedro vs Fluminense – 8 July 2025

Just 18 minutes into his full debut, Joao Pedro curled an exquisite finish into the far corner against his former club Fluminense. It was some way to make an impression and set us on the path to victory in the Club World Cup semi-final in New York.

Jamie Gittens vs Wolves – 29 October 2025

An aimless header bounced into the path of Gittens late on in a Carabao Cup encounter at Molineux, and the young forward did not hesitate in going for goal. He produced an unstoppable strike, which flew into the net via the inside of the post.
