Fresh from signing an extension to his Chelsea contract, Joao Pedro said feeling ‘at home’ made it an easy decision to commit his future to the Blues.

The Brazilian has put pen to paper on a deal that keeps him at Stamford Bridge until 2034 and the striker has spoken exclusively to Chelsea channels on the ‘easy decision’ to extend his stay with the Blues – with our No.9 also explaining that a chat with new manager Xabi Alonso also helped sway his decision.

‘I am very happy to sign a new contract with Chelsea,’ Joao Pedro said. ‘I always dreamed of playing for a big club, and it means a lot to me to give my long-term commitment to this club. Chelsea has a long tradition of winning and it has big ambitions for the future.

‘I have a very good relationship with everyone here at the club and I have felt at home from the moment that I joined.

‘I had a great season last season and I think we have built a good team. Xabi spoke with me, we had good conversations and I’m excited to play for him. I think this is the right moment [to sign a new contract] and hopefully it can be a very exciting year for us.

‘The fans have been amazing with me, we’ve had a fantastic 12 months already and I feel at home. I’m very happy to be here and to stay with Chelsea.’
