Shortly after completing his transfer to Chelsea, we spoke with Pep Chavarria about his footballing journey in an exclusive interview you can now watch for free.

The defender has been added to Xabi Alonso’s squad ahead of the forthcoming campaign, joining from La Liga side Rayo Vallecano.

Having only previously played in his native Spain, Chavarria will not be as familiar to most Blues fans as the likes of Danny Welbeck, Jordan Henderson and Morgan Rogers, who are among our other new signings this summer. So we asked the left-back what he is like on and off the pitch.

‘As a person, I am very friendly and familiar,’ says Chavarria in the interview, which you can watch in full below.

‘I am very happy always to be with my team-mates. I’m very happy to be here and I want to meet my new team-mates.

‘As a player, I love to attack, defend, box-to-box, and I have a lot of intensity. I have a lot of energy on the pitch. They are my biggest abilities.

‘I have played in Spain all my life, and for me the Premier League is the best league in the world right now, with a lot of quality and intensity. I think that it’s the best league for me.’
