Barco completed a transfer from Strasbourg to Chelsea earlier this month and joined up with his new team-mates at Cobham last week following Argentina’s run to the final of the FIFA World Cup.

We caught up with the 22-year-old a few days into life as a Chelsea player to ask him how he’s getting on and why he decided to make the move to Stamford Bridge.

‘I’m very happy to be here and to play for this club,’ says Barco in the interview, which you can watch for free below by simply signing in to your account.

‘Chelsea are one of the best clubs in the world. If they are calling you, you have to say yes. It was a top step to come back to the Premier League.

‘The first week was so good. The quality, the intensity, the training has been top. It’s a dream to play for Chelsea.’

During the interview, Barco discusses his relationship with Xabi Alonso, reveals what he is like off the pitch and offers a message to Chelsea fans.

He also lists his best attributes and explains why his move from left-back into central midfield during his season at Strasbourg was such a profound development in his footballing journey.

‘It helped me a lot to play again, to be important in the team, to come back to the national team and go to the World Cup, and now to come back to the Premier League,’ says Barco.

‘I feel comfortable playing as a midfielder. I love it because you touch the ball so much. You have to control the tempo of the game. I learned so much how to play as a midfielder, the timings, the tactics. The time was so important for my career and for my life as well.’
