16-year-old Watson has been in superb form this month, scoring three goals in two PL2 matches. He netted a brace against Arsenal, leading Cobham Next Gen to a statement 4-1 win. First, he converted from the penalty spot before wrapping a free-kick into the far corner.

Watson made an impact against Fulham, too, scoring the Blues’ second goal with a low drive into the bottom corner. That finish took his goal tally this season up to five in PL2.

The mature midfielder has now featured on the scoresheet in each of CNG’s league matches this season, while at the beginning of the month, Watson made his senior debut, starting in midfield in our 6-3 win over Leeds United in the third round of the Carabao Cup.

Blues striker Ezenwata has also been nominated for this month’s award having started the 2026/27 campaign promisingly. The 18-year-old scored the winner in CNG’s 5-4 win over West Ham, and netted in the win against Arsenal at the start of the month.

Ezenwata then showcased his playmaking ability by claiming two assists to complete the 3-1 comeback win against West London rivals Fulham. He also came close to scoring his third league goal of the season in that match, striking the crossbar in the first half with an emphatic left-footed effort.

Leo Black, who is currently on trial at Chelsea, also features in the shortlist following some impressive displays, including goals scored against Arsenal and Fulham.

Watson’s and Ezenwata’s performances have earned them nominations for September’s Premier League 2 Player of the Month award, alongside Leo Black (Chelsea trialist), Will Wright (Liverpool), Cruz Ibeh (Middlebrough), Harvey Vincent (Leeds United), Charlie Dinsdale (Sunderland) and Tyrese Hall (Tottenham Hotspur).

The winner of this month’s award will be announced on Friday 2 October.
