January signing and Swedish international Nathalie Bjorn discusses why she joined the Blues in the latest episode of our podcast We Are Chelsea.

Bjorn was the latest Blues star to sit down with host Caz De Moraes to share stories of her journey in the women's game and her time at Chelsea.

The centre-back spent two-and-a-half years at Everton after moving to England in 2021 from FC Rosengard in her native Sweden and established herself as one of the standout defenders in the Women's Super League.

She claimed Everton's Player of the Season award at the end of the 2022/23 campaign and moved to Chelsea during the winter transfer window.

'I felt I needed something new, a new opportunity, a new challenge. But yes, when Chelsea came into the picture it felt like the right thing, the right move to do.

'I felt a bit like it is almost now or never to move to this big club, help them and play with these great football players, play under Emma [Hayes] before she leaves. And it just felt right for me.'

Bjorn has certainly settled in smoothly to life at her new club – the Blues kept four clean sheets and conceded just once in her first five matches.

Although injuries have restricted her involvement in recent weeks, the Swede has been extremely impressed with her new surroundings and has praised the infrastructure at the club's Cobham base

'I have never been in a club that is this professional, that has everything you need and things you didn't know that you need to be the best football player.

'You have people for everything, stuff you wouldn't have even imagined you needed. So you're like ok, this person can help me with this or that.

'Like we have a stretch coach to help us stretch and I never thought we need that, because I can stretch myself. But that is just one example, we have a movement coach as well for mobility.'
