Niamh Charles is back in the hotseat for the latest episode of the 'We Are Chelsea' podcast to give us an insight into the newly crowned champions' title celebrations.

The England international sat down with regular host Caz De Moraes following on from last weekend's incredible 6-0 win at Manchester United that secured a fifth WSL title in-a-row.

Charles was one of the most consistent performers in our championship winning team, playing the most minutes of any squad member over the league campaign.

And the versatile full-back admitted the full-time whistle at Old Trafford led to an outpouring of emotion at the end of long season.

'Everything about the day and the celebrations after I just want to relive,' said Charles. 'I'm very, very happy and very, very proud.

'After the game everybody was celebrating and I just started crying. I didn't expect to and I haven't done that before, but I think it was just the relief.

'It's been a lot, the past few weeks, and for some reason I couldn't stop crying. Everyone was looking at me and laughing.

'Being able to celebrate with our fans in that little corner [of Old Trafford] was so special. There's nothing better, you can't buy that, it's something that you have to earn. It is what makes it so special.'

Charles also explained why this season's title celebrations on Saturday night were particularly memorable.

'That's another reason why this was so special,' Charles explained. 'In years gone by, the first few years we won it [the league], there was Covid so understandably you couldn't celebrate.

'Then in previous years with the FA Cup, we'd have a game three days later. So it was really nice we stayed that night and were able to all enjoy it together.

'To have that last night together to reflect on the season, blow off steam and just celebrate, that is so special. That is what is so great about team sport.'
