Chelsea Foundation has hosted the final Community Days of the 2025/26 season, welcoming supporters, students and amputee football participants to open training in May.
Jeremy and Callum, who attended the first session of the month, said: ‘We were surprised as part of Radio One’s Festive Feeling Campaign with a trip to watch training and tickets to the West Ham game. Honestly, it has been such a brilliant day, thank you to everyone at the club.’
Tariq watched on with his family. His mum, Nasrin, commented: ‘This was a massive surprise for Tariq, he has had a difficult time with his treatment recently. Meeting the players will really help give him some positive feelings and joy!’
Also attending the first session in May was a group from Holland Park School, who had won the prize of watching open training through the Chelsea Foundation’s Junior Edge of the Box Club, a business-focused initiative funded by the Premier League and PFA Community Fund.
Mr McCarthy, head of careers at Holland Park School, said: ‘This is a huge opportunity for our pupils to see how elite athletes train. It has also helped expose them to all the various jobs that make up a Premier League club, hopefully planting a seed as they consider their future career aspirations.’
Darren and his father Paul attended the second session of May, after a referral through the Willow Foundation.
Darren (pictured below) said: ‘I’ve followed Chelsea since I was little and it has been amazing to see them train today! Thank you Chelsea Foundation.’
After visiting a recent Chelsea Foundation amputee football session, Enzo Maresca invited Chelsea Foundation’s amputee participants to the final open training of the season.
One of those attending, Mike, said: ‘Watching how the team prepares behind the scenes to play matches we enjoy watching on TV or live in the stadium was amazing.’
Lifelong Blue and England Amputee international Shelbee added: ‘This experience is something people only dream of, especially being a Chelsea fan since a little girl. It was an incredible opportunity to meet and chat with each player. Not only were the players all so welcoming but the staff leading the day were outstanding and it was made so special by everyone who made it happen!’
