Chelsea’s time in Abu Dhabi is almost at the midway point and our training intensified again on Wednesday as the build-up to the weekend friendly against Aston Villa continues.

The Blues take on Premier League opposition at the Al Nahyan Stadium at 6.10pm local time (2.10pm UK time) on Sunday and tickets for those nearby are still available to purchase. Supporters in the UK and Ireland can watch live and for free on this website and The 5th Stand app.

Graham Potter and his players were back out on the pitch at our Middle East training base today as the sun set on another sweltering day. Reece James and Wesley Fofana were again outdoors following their individual rehabilitation programmes, with Potter having provided an update on our injured contingent in an exclusive interview with us earlier in the day.

Also involved in the session was Omari Hutchinson, the 19-year-old who was in the matchday squad for three of our five games before the World Cup break. With a smaller and younger group under the manager’s watchful eye, it is the perfect opportunity for the prodigious talent to make a positive impression.

‘I always try to impress the manager when I go on the pitch,’ the teenager told us this week. ‘I try to do that with goals and assists, that’s my main objective.

‘It’s been a great experience so far. The boys are getting closer together and the training has been very hard.’

Hutchinson also revealed how he is taking onboard guidance from his new team-mates following his summer arrival from Arsenal, with a few of his fellow young first-teamers proving particularly supportive.

‘I’m looking forward to getting advice from the older players, the more experienced ones,’ he continued. ‘The boys who are in the World Cup helped me before they went away as well.

‘I’ve been getting on with Reece James a lot. Carney Chukwuemeka and I get on well, Trevoh Chalobah too. All of the boys really.’
