Chelsea broke new ground when we triumphed in the UEFA Conference League final on Wednesday, becoming the first team to win every major European trophy.

The Blues had previously won it all, of course, completing the set when we conquered the Club World Cup in Abu Dhabi during the first season of the Conference League’s existence, 2021/22.

Having ended our first adventure in UEFA’s newest competition by beating Real Betis 4-1, we have now got our hands on each piece of European silverware. In total, the Blues have won nine continental finals. We celebrate each of them here!

Cup Winners’ Cup – 1971

The now defunct Cup Winners’ Cup was once European football’s second biggest prize, and we won it for the first time with victory over Europe’s biggest name, Real Madrid. Just as in the FA Cup final the year before, a replay was required after Peter Osgood’s opener was cancelled out.

The replay, also played in Athens just two days later, finished 2-1 to the Blues with Osgood again on the scoresheet, securing a second piece of silverware in as many years for Dave Sexton and his exciting side.

Cup Winners’ Cup – 1998

A generation containing some of the lowest points in Chelsea history passed before our next European final. When we reached the Stockholm showpiece, we made it count!

Gianfranco Zola had only been on the pitch for 20 seconds when he thrashed the ball into the net, securing a 1-0 win over Stuttgart and ensuring the tens of thousands of travelling Chelsea fans returned home very happy.

Super Cup – 1998

Having won the Cup Winners’ Cup for a second time, we earned the right to contest the UEFA Super Cup, formed in 1972, against Champions League winners Real Madrid.

On a balmy night in Monaco, Gus Poyet’s late goal was enough for yet another famous victory against the Spanish giants.

Champions League – 2012

Finally! So many times had we gone close to lifting the biggest club prize, but in arguably our most precarious European campaign of them all, we got over the line by beating Bayern Munich in their own backyard.

Didier Drogba was the hero on the night, just as he had been in so many European games that season, first equalising late on and then stroking home the winning penalty after Petr Cech had saved two in the shoot-out.

Europa League – 2013

The defence of our Champions League crown didn’t go to plan, but it did give us a crack at the Europa League, formerly the UEFA Cup, for the first time. How we seized it!

In the Amsterdam final, Branislav Ivanovic’s glorious looping header in the 93rd minute settled a tense encounter against Benfica.

Europa League – 2019

Chelsea ran riot in Baku in our second Europa League final, despatching London rivals Arsenal 4-1 some 2500 miles from home.

Olivier Giroud got us up and running against his former club before Pedro and Eden Hazard, with two, added further goals during a devastating second-half showing.

Baku – and London – was painted blue!

Champions League – 2021

On a magical evening in Porto, Chelsea lifted the Champions League for a second time in 2021. Kai Havertz scored the only goal against Manchester City and the Blues defended brilliantly to preserve that advantage, deservedly running out victorious.

The win was made that little bit extra special because it was the first fixture on European soil Chelsea fans had been allowed to attend since the start of the Covid pandemic over a year earlier.

Super Cup – 2021

Our next European assignment, three months later, yielded yet more silverware. Hakim Ziyech put us ahead against Villarreal, but the Europa League winners responded. The final had to be decided by penalties.

Kepa Arrizabalaga was our hero in the shootout, saving two spot-kicks. We had now got our hands on each European trophy twice!

Conference League – 2025

Around the same time as that final, the UEFA Conference League was beginning for the first time. Manchester United’s FA Cup victory last May meant we would be England’s representative in the competition for 2024/25.

Enzo Maresca’s Blues were dominant from the outset, winning 12 of our 13 games in the competition proper and scoring a record number of goals, including four in the final.

Once again, we had won it all!
