It was an image that went viral around the world. Estevao, the Palmeiras winger bound for Chelsea, talking to Cole Palmer shortly after full-time following our win in the searing Philadelphia heat.
What the duo - who both scored for either side that day in the 2-1 Chelsea victory - were saying, remains a mystery. Could they understand each other? Probably not. Mutual respect for one another? Certainly. Excited to link up at Stamford Bridge? Absolutely!
It required Dario Essugo, another new arrival in SW6, to venture over and operate as a translator. Something the midfielder may have to continue with as Estevao looks to settle into life in England. Either way, it's an exciting time to be connected to Chelsea, the world champions, as the Brazilian explains.
‘Yes, Palmer, Essugo and [Liam] Delap came and spoke to me,’ recalls Estevao. ‘I didn’t understand anything Palmer said actually!
‘I only understood his excitement while he was speaking to me. He was trying to understand and then Eusugo came to help, because he speaks Spanish and Portuguese and he played the role of translator. He said that they were excited for my arrival at the club and to welcome me and that they were really happy [to be joining].
'Speaking to the guys after the game made me feel really welcome, and special. Obviously, I have Joao Pedro and Andrey Santos here, two Brazilians, who I spoke to before coming so I felt good.
The world taking notice
It was a mesmeric performance from Estevao when he lined up against us for Palmeiras back in July, but how much did we learn about him - the player - from that game?
The brilliant Brazilian gave Chelsea fans a glimpse into the future when he produced a Player of the Match display during our 2-1 victory over the side from Sao Paulo. Despite being on the losing side that night in Philadelphia, he introduced himself to his new fans in spectacular style.
Instinctive finish
The Blues were leading 1-0 as the clocked edged towards the hour-mark, but Palmeiras - with a certain Estevao in their ranks - had to always be considered a threat.
And so it proved, when a moment of magic turned the game on its head and sparked wild Brazilian celebrations against the would-be world champions.
Enter Estevao. Taking two controlled touches, before, out of nowhere, unleashing a rocket of a finish that left the crossbar rattling for a few seconds afterwards. Goal. Just like that. Robert Sanchez, one of the best performers at the tournament, was left stunned by the venom in the strike. A sign of things to come in future training sessions, perhaps?
Having found just a yard of space, it was telling how quickly he shifted the ball out of his feet and with such limited room, against the defensive presence of Levi Colwill.
The 18-year-old had eight touches in our box during the game, showing where he comes alive on the pitch. Quite the feat given Estevao actually had the fewest touches of any outfield player to play 90 minutes (42), highlighting how efficient he can be with limited opportunities.
'Oh yes, it was very cool,' the teenager said of playing against Chelsea. 'It was an incredible experience to test my potential too. I think it was a very important game for my life and that will be marked in my story because playing against my future club was incredible.'
But what about the goal? It had everyone talking. One touch, ball out of his feet, another touch to set himself before rattling a shot off the underside of the crossbar with such ferocity it made the entire stadium gasp.
'I was very calm,' he said, with an almost nonchalant shrug to go with his beaming Brazilian smile. 'I think it was one of the calmer games for me during the Club World Cup, actually.
'My head was in a good place, my mind calm and I only thank God for the opportunity, for everything the game represented. I also gave my best, which I think is something that remains.’
Attacking presence
Estevao topped plenty of statistics during the match but he also passed the eye test with ease, exhibiting composure, pace and confidence in duels.
In truth, he showed that throughout the tournament Stateside - picking up three Player of the Match awards, including one against the Blues.
During the tournament, the Alviverde - the Green and Whites -deployed him as a winger on both the left and right flank, as well as being utilised through the middle, showcasing his versatility.
The future is Blue
While Estevao was wearing the forest green of Palmeiras that night, he very much bleeds blue now.
He joins a proud lineage of Brazilian stars at Chelsea - Thiago Silva, David Luiz, Ramires, and Willian among them - and he'll be hoping to write his own chapter in that storied history.
Having already introduced himself to Chelsea fans following that display in America, now he will hope it's three points, and not just a brief word, that he's sharing at full-time with Palmer and Co going forward...
