We look in closer detail at Moises Caicedo's commanding midfield performance against Pafos, which earned him the Player of the Match award both via UEFA and the Chelsea Official App.

Moises was the clear winner of the vote on the Chelsea Official App with 83 per cent, while Enzo Fernandez was his nearest challenger with 13 per cent.

In a game of few clear-cut chances, and one in which the Blues had plenty of the ball, we had to grind out the result at the Bridge, and it's fair to say that Caicedo was crucial to our charge.

Heading home

We had Caicedo to thank as we beat the Cypriot side 1-0 in our penultimate league phase contest of the UEFA Champions League at the Bridge.

He netted the game's solitary goal 12 minutes from time when he steered home a header following a corner that was flicked on by a Pafos defender.

Known for scoring stunning goals, such as his strike from halfway against Bournemouth or his top-corner rocket against Liverpool, this header was more modest but just as important.

Caicedo is currently enjoying his highest-scoring campaign in front of goal, having already bagged three in the Premier League and two in the Champions League.

Controlling the midfield

He might've only had two touches in the opposition's box - one of those being our winner - but Moises helped keep the Blues ticking as we searched for a way through.

Caicedo completed the third-most passes in the entire game (93), including 32 in the final third, as Chelsea continued to probe at Pafos’ defence. Moises was key in maintaining our metronomic passing against the low block employed by the opposition.

In fact, the Blues had an overall passing accuracy of 94.5 per cent against Pafos, which is actually our highest on record (since 2003-04) in a single UEFA Champions League match.

The Ecuadorian also created the joint third-most chances in the game (3), while taking more shots than any other player (4), underlining his influence for the Blues in both defence and attack.

What a player, what a performance!
