Having scored four times and provided one assist in his five Premier League starts against Southampton so far, it is safe to say Mason Mount has form against the Saints.

But will the England international be in the 11 named for the game against them at Stamford Bridge later today, having been a substitute in the draw at West Ham and the defeat in Dortmund?

It is a question Graham Potter has been considering in the build-up to the game.

‘Mason is a Portsmouth boy and from my time at Southampton, I know there's no love lost between those two clubs, that's for sure,’ our head coached pointed out.

‘He will be desperate to play, he'll be ready. His qualities are undoubted so there's a chance he could be involved, absolutely.’

On how Mount dealt with beginning on the bench the last two game, Potter added:

‘He's reacted really well, as I'd expect.

‘He's a fantastic lad, he's great in the dressing room. He wants to support the team and his team-mates and he's ready to play. You saw that with how he came on the pitch against West Ham and Dortmund. He had an impact, so no problems with Mason.’
