The draw for the UEFA Women’s Champions League knockout stages has handed Chelsea a meeting with Arsenal or Leuven in our next match.
With this season’s competition concluding in Oslo, the draw was conducted by Norwegian legend Maren Mjelde, who won five Women’s Super League titles during her time with the Blues.
The draw began with the play-off round. That didn’t involve Chelsea as we progressed directly to the quarter-finals thanks to our impressive league phase campaign. That ended by coming from behind in Germany to beat Wolfsburg 2-1 thanks to goals from Lucy Bronze and Sam Kerr, securing a third-place finish and a seeded place in the knockout draw.
As a seeded team, we will be away in the first leg of the quarter-finals before returning to Stamford Bridge for the second. We will face the winner of the play-off tie between Arsenal and Belgian side Leuven – who meet in February – in the last eight, setting up a possible European London derby. All quarter-final games are scheduled to be played across 23-25 March and 31 March-2 April.
Should we progress in that tie, we would then face one of Lyonnes, Wolfsburg or Juventus in the semi-finals in late April and early May, again playing the second leg at home.
