The Chelsea Academy's focus has firmly turned to the UEFA Youth League, as we look to keep our winning run alive when Chelsea Under-19s host Barcelona at Cobham on Tuesday afternoon. We have made a sensational start to our Youth League campaign, heading into our next fixture against Barcelona with four wins from four games and sitting proudly at the top of the league phase table.
Chelsea opened the competition with a thrilling 3-2 victory away at Bayern Munich, thanks to a decisive strike from Harrison Murray-Campbell. That momentum continued at Cobham in our first home European fixture, where the Under-19s ran out 5-2 winners against Benfica, highlighted by a brilliant hat-trick from Shumaira Mheuka.
Our third victory came in an action-packed 6-3 triumph over Ajax, before a commanding 5-0 clean-sheet victory away at Qarabag last time out.
Led by Under-21s head coach Calum McFarlane, the squad has regrouped following the November international break, during which several players represented their countries. Attention now turns to a highly anticipated clash with Barcelona, as Chelsea look to maintain our perfect start in Europe.
