After four-and-a-half years as a Chelsea player, Zecira Musovic will leave the club at the conclusion of the 2024/25 campaign.

The 28-year-old arrived from Rosengard in January 2021 and has lifted ten trophies during her time in blue. She also established herself on the international stage, becoming Sweden’s first-choice goalkeeper and representing her country at the 2023 World Cup.

In February, Zecira announced she was pregnant and stepped away from first-team duties. She was offered a contract extension by the club, but has opted to begin a new chapter in her career once her current deal ends.

Zecira said: ‘Before leaving Sweden and coming to Chelsea, I had a lot of doubts. But with my amazing team-mates, the wonderful staff and our incredible supporters, I found a new family.

'We have created many memories together and I have grown so much as a person during my time at Chelsea. It’s why it’s difficult to leave, but also why I feel confident to begin something new.’

Paul Green, head of women’s football, added: 'Zecira has been hugely important in setting the culture we expect at Chelsea. She pushes herself and her team-mates every day, which has been crucial to the success we have enjoyed during her time at the club.

'We are sad to see Zecira move on, but understand the reasons why she has made this decision. We wish her the very best with her pregnancy and in her future football career.’

After joining Chelsea mid-season, Musovic’s first campaign in blue ended with a Women’s Super League triumph and the League Cup being claimed. She played a role in four further WSL title wins, another League Cup success, and lifted the FA Cup on three occasions.

Zecira made 52 appearances for Chelsea and kept clean sheets in 27 of those outings. We wish Z the very best for the future as she begins a new chapter, both professionally and personally.
