Academy years

A Southampton boy, he is a strong, imposing central defender who made five appearances for the youth team while still a schoolboy. He has also represented England up to the Under-17 age group and signed his first professional contract at the club in March 2019.

The Cameroon-born teenager was a mainstay of our Under-18s defence in 2018/19 and his performances earned a UEFA Youth League debut in the opening round of the competition in October.

In 2019/20, Simeu's appearances were shared between both the under-18s and development squad. He scored his first goal for the youth team in a 4-3 win over West Ham in August 2019 and debuting for the older age group in a 2-2 draw with Leicester City in September of that same year. In total he made 20 outings and scored two goals for the Academy during the campaign in which the development sqaud were crowed PL2 champions.
