Teenage Kicks: Bashir Humphreys
In the final part of our series looking at the upbringing of our Academy youngsters, defender Bashir Humphreys talks us through how he came to love football, his swimming days and playing for England.
He is a fast, tall and athletic keeper who moves quickly around his box and has very good reactions. After making his debut in a 5-0 victory over Swansea City in September, the Frenchman made nine appearances for the youth team before a dislocated shoulder sustained in March brought a premature end to his season.
Tie signed a first professional contract at the club in July 2018, a three-year deal that expires at the end of 2020/21. However, a series of niggling injuries restricted him to just a handful of outings in his second season at the club and there were four outing for the keeper during the 2019/20 season.
