Joe Haigh’s second-half free-kick wasn’t enough to mount a comeback as our Under-18s fell to a derby day defeat on Wednesday morning.
A French Under-16 international who can play in either a back three or back four, he is a quick and athletic individual who also enjoys coming out of defence with the ball and has a good range of pass. He signed his first professional contract in January 2019.
He enjoyed a solid first season in English football, featuring frequently for the youth team and scoring dramatically late on at home to Southampton to rescue a point in January. The Paris-born defender also made his debut in the UEFA Youth League and Premier League 2 during the campaign.
The Frenchman made seven outings for Ed Brand's Under-18s during the 2019/20 season, scoring two goals, both came in the league game against Norwich at Cobham.
At the mid-point of the 2020/21 season Ekwah-Elimby had made four outings for Andy Myers' development squad, including performances in the wins over Derby, Leicester and Manchester United.
