Andy Myers

Development Squad Head Coach

Andy Myers was appointed Chelsea development squad head coach in the summer of 2019.

Myers had already spent 10 years working as an Academy coach, leading the Under-15 age group before moving up to assist with the Under-21s and Under-19s. He was part of the backroom team that helped secure consecutive triumphs in the UEFA Youth League and a league title for the Under-21s in 2013/14.

Our former defender, who made over 100 first team appearances for the club, spent a season in a coaching role at Vitesse Arnhem in 2016/17 before returning to Cobham to assist Joe Edwards with the development squad in 2017/18.

He succeeded Jody Morris in the role of Under-18s manager when Morris left to work with Frank Lampard at Derby County, and guided the young Blues to a third-place league finish.

The 2019/20 season saw the newly-appointed development squad head coach mastermind an unbeaten league campaign which ended in the young Blues being named Premier League 2 winnners for the first time in the competition's short history. The season was curtailed after 18 games as Chelsea sat undefeated and top of the pile due to the coronavirus pandemic - the Premier League later crowed the development squad the title after the final standings were decided by a points-per-game basis.
