Levi Colwill has been registered with us since the Under-9 age group after signing through our development centre programme.

He will spend the 2021/22 season on loan in the Championship at Huddersfield Town.

Academy years

A current England Under-17 international who plays mostly at centre-back, he can also slot in on the left as full-back or wing-back, and enjoys stepping forward as a ball-playing defender.

Colwill featured mostly for the Under-18s during 2019/20 and made his Under-19 debut in the UEFA Youth League draw with Valencia in September as well as appearing in the FA Youth Cup for the first time during the 5-0 win over Bradford City.

Impressive performances saw the defender begin to make appearances for the development squad in early 2020, the first coming in a 2-2 draw with Everton, but unfortunately his season ended early after picking up a knee injury in the Youth Cup win over Millwall at Stamford Bridge, in total he made 23 outings for the Blues. A solid first season in full-time football meant he signed his first professional contract at the club on his 17th birthday in February 2020.

After recoving from an injury at the end of the previous season, Colwill returned to the pitch at the start of the 2020/21 season with Andy Myers' development squad and by the midpoint had started nine of the 11 Premier League 2 fixtures, proving a vital piece of a successful start to the term.

In June 2021, he signed a new four-year Chelsea contract and it was announced he would get his first taste of senior football on loan at Huddersfield.
