A graduate from our Academy, Charlotte Fleming signed her first professional contract with Chelsea FC Women ahead of the 2020/21 season.
The young midfielder has been at Chelsea since the age of 10 and remains at the club until May 2021 after putting pen to paper. She became the third Academy product to graduate to the women’s team after Drew Spence and Hannah Blundell took the step up from what was known as the Centre of Excellence.
Fleming impressed for the Under-18s with her tenacious and energetic displays earning her a call-up to Emma Hayes’ squad. In the 2019/20 women’s campaign, the Academy captain was named in the squad three times and made two starts, which came in cup fixtures against Championship sides Lewes in November and Charlton Athletic in January 2020. Fleming suffered from a calf injury against Charlton which kept her out of the senior squad for the remainder of that season.
Having trained with the Blues on a part-time basis, the teenager has decided to take a break from education to focus her full attention on football and says 2020/21 will be a year of development.
