Guro Reiten

BIOGRAPHY

Guro Reiten was Chelsea Women’s first signing ahead of the 2019/20 season and joined from Norwegian side LSK Kvinner on a three-year contract.

Reiten is a versatile left-footed player who is capable of playing out wide, as a no.10 or a striker. Prior to her move to London, the 24-year-old had always played her domestic football in Norway.

Her mother played football at the highest club level in Norway and it was she who ignited Reiten’s love of the game from a young age. When asked to describe herself as a footballer, Reiten said she likes to attack, score and create goals.

She has featured regularly for her country since Under-15s level and has been a part of the senior side since 2014. She competed in the 2019 Women’s World Cup in France with Blues’ defensive duo, Maren Mjelde and Maria Thorisdottir.

Throughout the tournament she netted twice and was elected as Player of the Match in their opening fixture against Nigeria – Norway finished as quarter-finalists.

Reiten was a back-to-back league winner in the Toppserien, Norway’s equivalent to the WSL. She won the league golden boot in both 2017 and 2018 and was also voted as the 2018 Toppserien Player of the Year.

In 2017 she played against the Blues in a pre-season friendly with her previous club LSK Kvinner. Reiten was on the losing side as Chelsea beat the Champions League side 3-0. Ramona Bachmann scored a brace and Erin Cuthbert netted her first goal for us.

The Norwegian will wear the no.11 Chelsea shirt which was vacated by Ali Riley and is also fluent in English.
