Reaction: We must do more

Diego Costa says turning our fortunes around is the responsibility of every member of the squad, and the striker believes the quality within the group will ensure we quickly get back to winning ways.

The Blues were narrowly beaten by Porto in the Champions League last night, losing 2-1 in Portugal.

Diego Costa, who led the line well and thumped the bar shortly after we had fallen 2-1 behind, felt we should have taken more from the match.

‘We had the game under control,’ he said. ‘We knew it was going to be a physical game. We began well.

‘Things changed when they scored, but we quickly equalised. In the second half the same thing happened - we were lacking concentration at key moments of the game.

‘We are all united.  It's not a good moment now.  We must do more.  We have a good squad with a great deal of quality.  We have maybe lost some confidence in three or four games.’

‘The manager knows the quality of his team.  He knows what we can do.  It is the responsibility of all of us.  We have to improve our character and confidence.’

Our equaliser last night came courtesy of a wonderful Willian free-kick, his third goal of the season so far and all of them free-kicks.

The Brazilian says there is no time to dwell on the result with the visit of Southampton to come on Saturday.

‘It was a difficult game,’ Willian said. ‘We tried a lot to win, so we are disappointed. We have more games coming and we have to stay focused.

‘I think we have to continue to fight, to train, to stay concentrated because we have more games coming.

‘I am happy with the goal but I am not happy with the result, because we want to win.'
