The season has reached its third month as we head into October’s fixtures with a home game against Southampton. Here we pick out one individual performance from last season’s corresponding fixture.

It was a competitive encounter back in March with the points shared after two first-half goals. We pressed for a winner after the break as highlighted by one defender’s contribution…

- Cesar Azpilicueta hit two season-highs against the team from the South Coast. His 26 successful passes in the attacking third of the pitch were the most he managed in any league game, and the same can be said for the 113 touches of the football he had.

- In total he managed 46 successful passes in the opposition half, while of the total passes he made 43 went forward at a completion rate of over 75 per cent. That figure was second only to Cesc Fabregas on the day. Azpilicueta also showed his defensive worth, scoring highly on clearances, blocks and interceptions.
