Blues join Delta to spread festive cheer

Chelsea teamed up with Delta Air Lines to spread festive cheer to underprivileged children in New York last week.

Our official airline partner’s annual Holiday in the Hangar saw the North Pole head to Queens as one of Delta’s hangars at JFK Airport was transformed into a winter wonderland for 150 special young guests.

The children, all from a local branch of the YMCA, were taxied into the hangar on a Delta plane before disembarking to meet Santa Claus, his elves, and of course Stamford the Lion.

During the event, the youngsters were able to receive footballing clinics from Chelsea Foundation coaches as well as receiving festive toys and gifts from Delta and its partners.

‘It has been fantastic to take part in a great initiative with Delta this year and to engage with children from communities of New York,’ said Foundation coach Chris Woodward.

‘The children had a lot of fun learning new skills and practising shooting with Stamford. this is our first year at Holiday in the Hanger and we look forward to coming back next year and supporting other activities alongside Delta Air Lines.’

Hussein Berry, vice president, JFK Airport, Delta Air Lines, added: ‘Delta’s sixth-annual Holiday in the Hangar celebration is just one way that Delta proudly supports the organisations that are part of the fabric of New York.

‘It was a pleasure to host this holiday event today alongside the YMCA of Greater New York and so many of our partners, including Chelsea FC. Kids and grown-ups alike all had a great time.’
